Blower Door Testing
We perform blower door leakage tests for single and multi-family residential buildings. Not only do we provide test results and required certificate but we also provide documentation of the leakage findings in the event a test does not pass. I take my time to find any air leakages and help fix as much as possible to help your home pass.
What is a Blower Door Test?
Blower door testing is a way to test the air leakage of any given structure. By depressurizing the building and measuring the rate at which air infiltrates the building through the buildings.
Is it required?
Per R402.4.1.2, this is required to be done on every new constructed home, add on over 500sqft and all multi-family homes built.
What is Washington R402.4.1.2?
The building or dwelling unit shall be tested and verified as having an air leakage rate of not more than 5 air changes per hour. Tests shall be conducted by a third party, required by the code official. Blower door test will be performed at a pressure of 50 pascals. A written report of the results will be signed by the certified BPI conducting the test and given to the code official. Test shall be able to be performed at any time after creationg of all penetrations of the buildings thermal envelope. One visual inspection has confirmed all sealing (see Table R402.4.1.2), operable windows and door manufactured by small business shall be permitted to be sealed off prior to test.

Northwest Blower Door Testing LLC is locally owned and provides Independent, third-party air leakage for new and existing residential's. We are home based business ready to serve your residential needs. We take pride in serving Whatcom, Skagit, Snohomish, Pierce and King Counties.
Prices range from $200 to $375 depending on the size and location of the house. We will provide a complete test certification including R-value and the air leakage results. We will post the required 2015/18 WSEC Residential Energy Complience Certificate on the inside or outside of the electrical panel as required by code.
